Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area

Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area provides FREE, student-centered, private and confidential instruction to adults with literacy skills below the sixth grade level.

They also provide support services for volunteers and learners, and collaborate with individuals, groups and organizations desiring to foster increased literacy.

FLASH - (Family Learning Action Starts Here)

FLASH is a library sponsored literacy program offering  FREE classes to beginning ESL students as well as classes for those applying for U.S. Citizenship.  There are no income or residency requirements.

Beginning ESL class meets Monday and Wednesday evenings 6-8PM.

US Citizenship classes are for anyone who is eligible to apply for U.S. Citizenship, plans to apply for U.S. Citizenship before October 2008 and needs help preparing for the exam.  Classes include preparation for the interview and exam and assistance completing the application. 

The US Citizenship Class meets on Tuesday evenings from 6-8PM.

The first class of the ten-week course is April 29, 2008. The last class is July 1, 2008, and July 8 is reserved for a make-up class in the event that a class is cancelled.
